With original owners and founders Petros Marafatsos and son George Marafatsos, the company has over 100 combined years of experience in the construction industry.

Marafatsos Construction is a fully licensed general contractor in Washington, DC. We hold a Class A Commercial Building contracting license in the state of Virginia; and we are proud to be one of the first 1,000 businesses to receive a contractor’s license in the state of Maryland, MHIC #989.

History

About

At the young age of 7, Petros Marafatsos became an apprentice mason learning to build fireplaces, chimneys, and stucco work in Sparta, Greece. Years later, he advanced in his trade and started his own company building concrete and masonry buildings. Upon immigrating to the United States in 1968, Petros obtained a job as a bricklayer, building schools around the metropolitan area. Along with his son, George, he was able to pursue his dream of having his own business.

With over 60 years of experience in the construction industry, Petros is semi-retired and is involved mostly on an executive and consulting level. His son and grandson now run the growing company. He now enjoys gardening, taking care of his organic olive grove, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
